06.29.09 - I had a few birthday parties this past weekend so didn't get to make it around town but Thursday night went to Rococco Event with Rose Ribbon Foundation - great fashions, great crowd. Then went over to Benjy's on Washington and stayed in the lounge most of the night. Fun crowd and it kept changing as the evening wore on! Then popped into Eight to say hi to a few people. Weds night went by Neal Hamil Models white summer party @ Nox - fun crowd! Nox is a great place to have a private event - if it's an off night or early!? Drake is another space that works for private events!

Several new places opening in the next few weeks....Taps, Sawyer Park...so Stay Tuned! DJ Earwaxx (TAO fame) will be at NOX Weds night. Check out July 4th for the major fireworks around town. HAPPY 4th of JULY!

CHRIS' CORNER
There are two new places that opened in the past couple weeks... one is Gallant Knight in the Village and the other is Bikini Beach in midtown.

I checked out Bikini Beach on Saturday and it was just as I assumed it would be... I'll just leave it as that! hehe They've taken over the old Status place yet didn't make any major changes. They even have all the old Status signage still up. Radio station 95.7 was there doing a live feed and I think the crowd were all there taking advantage of the $3 you call its.

I'm assuming things will be a little quiet this weekend for the holiday weekend. If you don't want to brave the crowds and the heat at one of the outdoor festivals (see Saturday's rundown) you can take advantage of some of the 4th of July parties at nearby bars and restaurants like Beavers, Front Porch Swing, and Red Door. I would think the Social would be another good place to see the downtown display...

Also, Hotel ZaZa is having a weekend party that should be fun. I am not sure if there are any more cabanas available for their Saturday pool party but I know they still have rooms at a special rate of ($199 for Friday and $4 for Saturday).

Hope you have a safe and happy independence day!

future events

I'm back from vacation and some time by the beach was exactly what I needed.

Before we left I did go out for a little Sunday Funday. We went to Pravada (sorry, I almost said Crome) and they had the Darque Tan contest there. The place was packed and Houston being Houston I had a girlfriend in the contest (Ashley should have won!!!). During the summer with the promo the patio gets packed.

I also always end up being drug to Mo's. Its not my choice but I will say the people watching is good and the wait staff has always been great.
